01 | Define the scope
List additions, alterations and repairs such as sockets, lighting circuits or a distribution board. Explain whether the work affects the whole unit or particular areas.
02 | Coordinate attendance and power interruptions
Provide the expected completion date, access arrangements and suitable times. Shops and offices should identify business hours and equipment that must keep running. The electrician confirms testing and interruption arrangements.
03 | Inspect and test after completion
EMSD guidance requires inspection, testing and certification after the relevant fixed electrical installation work is complete and before energising for use. Work on existing installations is addressed according to the affected scope. Booking a visit does not mean certification requirements have been met.
04 | Act on the findings
Where improvements are needed, agree on scope and price before arranging the work and any re-inspection. Keep completed documents for future reference.
